Outlines

Let’s be clear with “landing page” definition

Before we go further, let’s define the term landing page. The landing page is the 1st page where your visitor land on your website (Shopify store). You can read more about the landing page definition and explanation from Unbounce.com website.

[Case Study] - Did you know that Shopify has landing pages?

That’s true and let’s take a look at simple examples how Shopify utilize Google Adwords and drive the traffic to landing pages on Shopify website. You can give yourself a quick test with that. In that way, you can better understand how the customer journey looks like. Ok, putting yourself in the “customer’s shoes.” Shopify merchants are the store owners who are looking for online store solution.

For example, they sell “cosmetics,” and one of the obvious search phrases might be “sell cosmetics online.” Now, please open your web browser in the Incognito mode and visit google.com then type “sell cosmetics online”. As you can see the first “paid result” is the Shopify landing page. It has the URL https://www.shopify.com/free-trial

Let’s click on the URL https://www.shopify.com/free-trial and see how it looks like.

Shopify landing page -  Free Trial

This landing page structure looks quite simple. The primary goal of this landing page is getting the user sign up for Shopify 14 Days free trial. It’s the main CTA (Call To Action). From top to bottom you won’t find the header or footer. The reason is simple, Shopify doesn’t want the user to abandon this landing page and go further to other Shopify pages.

Shopify landing page for cosmetics and beauty products

Now, let’s get back to the search result than in the top 10 results with keywords “sell cosmetics online” the first Organic result is the page https://www.shopify.com/sell/cosmetics. Please click on it and you’d see the image below.

In the past Shopify was running Google Adwords and based on the specific niche search keyword, it’ll drive the traffic to appropriate landing page. In this landing page, we can see internal links. The role of this landing page is more about “redirecting users” to the right place. You can see the header and footer plus internal SEO links inside the content. The first part of this Shopify landing page begins with Heading 1 HTML tag “Sell makeup and cosmetics online”.

Btw, Shopify has essential SEO settings to make your landing page looks search engine friendly.

Scrolling down, you’ll find the clean content section about selling beauty products for online shoppers. This content looks user-friendly and explains the significant benefits of selling online cosmetics products. The content block ends with text CTA “Try Shopify for free.”

Exploring this page, you will find other benefits of using Shopify platform as the e-commerce solution for your business. The content presentation touches the pure text and graphics part.

Next part, when the product benefits are outlined clearly there is the “social proof” element. You know that we can trust the product based on customers testimonials and brands using the product. In Shopify’s case study we see a pretty famous name like Daymond John or store owners like you. It triggers you to feel like you’re one of successful Shopify store owners :).

“Have seen in…”, In short, the product has been mentioned in the favorite news websites in tech and business industry. The name to say is The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, F@ST COMPANY, The New York Times and Mashable.

With the great product, Shopify also has excellent support team working 24 hours a day and seven days a week. There is continues support for Shopify merchants if there are any issues. Even the customer support team image looks quite friendly. Different clothing styles and smiles create the positive atmosphere and increase the landing page credibility.

At the bottom of this Shopify landing page, you can find links. Yeap, there are links to different business niches like shoes, art, jewelry, handcrafts and other. Let’s visit a couple of them and see what’s the difference there.

Shopify landing page - Jewelry

Do you see the similar concept on the landing page for jewelry sellers? The page heading targets to “Sell jewelry online” and it’s wrapped in H1 HTML tag. SEO friendly indeed. The clean image containing jewelry items on the MacBook and iPhone will make you feel that you “own already this online store”.

Next part is the standard content section talking about benefits of opening Jewelry online store. The final part of this content section is text Call To Action with Try Shopify for free. After that content section, there are the same content sections like we mentioned in the Shopify cosmetics landing page.

“Create an Internet presence for your jewelry store and start selling your products to men and women around the world. Let your clients treat themselves to a stunning new piece or buy a necklace, ring or bracelet for a loved one, all from the comfort of their own homes. Build your brand and increase your profits by opening a jewelry ecommerce store of your own. It's easy with Shopify.” - Shopify.
